# Platform Rating (Layer 2)

This is Layer 2 of Steakhouse Financial's Multi-Layer Risk Rating. The Platform Rating assesses the DeFi protocol that transforms the underlying asset. Unlike the Asset Rating, the Platform Rating does not include credit risk criteria and is assessed on two pillars only: Issuer and Operational.

The platform is the layer that transforms one crypto asset into another. Often, it is a decentralized finance protocol that allows the underlying asset to be wrapped, its yield to be split or leveraged, or used for rehypothecation.

The resulting risk of the outcome token depends on the quality of the decentralized finance protocol or application. A key characteristic of these platforms is that their activities are fully on-chain, enabling users to interact atomically with the protocols. Their scope of action is limited to interactions with on-chain smart contracts, with no off-ramping or transfer of value from crypto to fiat.

However, as key intermediaries in the usage of crypto assets, these entities can affect the value of a token through code vulnerabilities, governance structures, or protocol changes.

The platform rating does not include credit risk criteria; it is assessed on the two other pillars: Issuer and Operational.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://steakhouse.financial/docs/risk-management/collateral/layers-pillars-and-criteria/platform-rating-layer-2.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
